PGA Jr. League is a nationwide youth golf program designed to make the game fun, engaging, and accessible for players of all skill levels. Modeled after other youth sports leagues, PGA Jr. League allows kids to compete in a team-oriented environment, fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Players ages 7 to 17 are grouped into teams, where they receive coaching from PGA and LPGA professionals. This team-based format encourages young golfers to develop their skills while building friendships, learning the rules of golf, and enjoying the competition in a supportive, fun atmosphere.

The program emphasizes inclusion, providing opportunities for players to improve their game, no matter their experience level. With a focus on friendly competition rather than intense individual play, PGA Jr. League is perfect for kids who want to learn the game, gain confidence, and have fun on the course. The league also offers various levels of competition, ensuring that participants are challenged at a pace that suits their abilities. By promoting both skill development and personal growth, PGA Jr. League aims to cultivate a lifelong love of golf while teaching important life lessons, such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect.

PGA Professional Doug coaches several teams at Bay Valley Resort in Bay City, Michigan and his trained fellow coaches coach teams at Maple Leaf Golf Course in Linwood, Bay County Golf Course in Bay City, Sandy Ridge Golf Course in Midland, Bay City Country Club in Bay City, and Currie Golf Course inn Midland.  Saginaw Country Club members have an option to sign up for a team that competes in the regional league. 13U teams compete in a scramble format against teams from area courses.  For 2026 the 17U teams will compete in numerous formats including scramble, alternate shot, and Stableford.  Competition is amongst teams from area courses.

The 2026 season consists of a parent / player kick off meeting on May 4 at Bay Valley Resort - 6pm, a minimum of 10 team practices (More if a player wants to attend additional team practices), six matches (Monday mornings for 13U and Wednesday mornings for 17U), and a chance at a birth into the post season.  All star players are picked from without the entire league in both divisions and will continue to practice in August and move on to the state tournament with a chance at a regional and national birth.

Additional opportunities for players will include several stroke play tournaments, a regional match play tournament, and a family scramble in July.

NEW - SPRING and FALL Season Introductory League for ages 4-6, 7-9, 10-13

A New Way to Start the Game: 2026 Great Lakes Bay Region PGA Jr. League Spring & Fall Introductory Seasons

The 2026 Great Lakes Bay Region PGA Jr. League is launching something brand new—and it’s designed specifically for new players, younger golfers, and families who want an easy, fun and welcoming way to experience PGA Jr. League for the very first time.

For the first time in our region, families will be able to take part in a 4-week introductory PGA Jr. League season built to help young players feel comfortable, confident, and excited about golf—while giving parents a clear look at what makes PGA Jr. League such a powerful youth development program.

This is not just a clinic.
It’s a true introduction to the PGA Jr. League experience.

A 4-Week Introductory Season Built for New & Younger Players

Our Spring Introductory Season will run May 7 through May 28, 2026 and will offer age-specific groups for:

  • Ages 4–6

  • Ages 7–9

  • Ages 10–13

Each introductory season includes:

  • Four weekly 1-hour practice sessions

  • Two on-course experiences (120 minutes each)

This structure allows players to learn skills in a fun, supportive practice setting—and then apply what they’ve learned on the golf course with teammates, coaches, and family encouragement.

The goal is simple:  help players and parents feel comfortable, confident, and excited about being part of PGA Jr. League.

What Players Receive with the PGA Jr. League Annual Fee

With the $120 PGA Jr. League annual membership, players receive far more than just a single season.

Each player receives:

  • Custom PGA Jr. League jerseys (home and away)

  • Official team kits for each season

  • Access to their local league and the ability to participate in multiple seasons throughout the year

For 2026, the Great Lakes Bay Region PGA Jr. League will offer:

  • Spring League

  • Summer League

  • Fall League

Families can participate in one—or all—of the available seasons.

Players also gain:

  • Opportunities from PGA Jr. League partners and sponsors

  • Access to regional events and special games throughout the year

  • Stroke-play events and a signature summer match-play championship

  • And one of the most popular family traditions of the year…
the annual “Christmas in July” Family Scramble

Professional Coaching from a Proven Leader
All SPRING and FALL introductory programs are led by Doug Temple, PGA, PGA Professional and Director of Golf Operations at Bay Valley Resort.

Doug brings decades of coaching experience and a nationally recognized background in youth development. His programs focus on:

  • Fun and confidence first

  • Age-appropriate learning

  • Team connection and positive experiences

  • Building life skills through the game of golf

Every player—whether they are picking up a club for the first time or building confidence to compete—receives professional instruction in an encouraging, welcoming environment.

Fall 2026 - Two New Program Options

The Great Lakes Bay Region PGA Jr. League will also offer two Fall opportunities in 2026.

OPTION 1

This option mirrors the Spring Introductory Season and includes:

  • Four weeks of 1-hour lessons for each age group

  • Two 120-minute on-course experiences

  • Team play, learning stations and course time with PGA coaching

This is ideal for families looking for a complete introduction to PGA Jr. League programming and on-course play.

OPTION 2

A second, brand-new offering for 2026 will be a:

4-week scramble experience held at Currie’s Par 3 Course

  • Wednesdays

  • 1½-hour sessions each week

  • Team-based scramble play in a fun, relaxed and social environment

This option is perfect for younger players and families who want a low-pressure, on-course experience that focuses on fun, teamwork and confidence.

A New Beginning for Youth Golf in the Great Lakes Bay Region

These new Spring and Fall introductory seasons represent an exciting new chapter for the Great Lakes Bay Region PGA Jr. League.

They were created to:

  • Welcome brand-new families

  • Support younger and developing players

  • Provide clear, comfortable entry points into league play

  • Build confidence before moving into full seasonal competition

Whether your child is 4 years old and brand new to golf—or ready to take the next step into team play—2026 is the perfect year to join the PGA Jr. League family.

Come experience the game.
Build confidence.
Join the team.

The 2026 Great Lakes Bay Region PGA Jr. League is ready to welcome you.

Military Monday Golf Leagues

Military Mondays Golf League – Building Community, One Round at a Time

In the Great Lakes Bay Region, golf is doing more than creating birdies and memories — it is creating connection, purpose, and a powerful support network for our local veterans.

The Military Mondays Golf League is a 12-week summer league designed to bring veterans together through the game of golf, while supporting the mission of PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) — the PGA of America’s flagship military program focused on the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of Veterans.

For 2026, the Military Mondays League will be hosted at four outstanding regional facilities:

  • Bay Valley Golf Club – Bay City
  • Currie Golf Course - Midland
  • Green Hills Golf Course - Pinconning
  • Sandy Ridge Golf Course - Midland

Together, these courses are proud to open their fairways to a league built around service, camaraderie, and community.

A League Designed for Veterans

The Military Mondays Golf League is built around a 2-person scramble format, with each team required to include at least one veteran. The league’s primary goal is to engage graduates of PGA HOPE, while remaining open and welcoming to all veterans—regardless of skill level or playing experience.  Golf experience is not required. Connection is.

Each week, teams compete in fun and inclusive on-course contests including:

  • Closest to the Pin
  • Longest Putt
  • Mystery Scorecard Drawing

These weekly games are intentionally designed to keep the focus on enjoyment, participation, and shared experience rather than pressure or competition.

More Than a League - A Place to Belong

The true purpose of Military Mondays goes far beyond scorecards and trophies.

Golf is a powerful therapeutic and social tool, helping veterans improve their overall well-being while reconnecting with others who share similar life experiences. Research and program outcomes consistently show that participation in PGA HOPE and veteran specific golf programs can help veterans:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Improve emotional and mental health
  • Rebuild confidence and sense of purpose
  • Strengthen social relationships
  • Create meaningful peer connections

Golf provides a unique environment — outdoors, active, and social — where veterans can build trust, engage in healthy activity, and simply enjoy time together.  That social connection is not optional. It is essential.

Every day in our country, approximately 22 veterans die by suicide.
That sobering reality remains at the forefront of why programs like Military Mondays exist.  This league is about making sure no veteran feels isolated, overlooked, or alone.

Season Details:

The 2026 Military Mondays Golf League will run:

Mondays | June 1 – August 24
(No play on July 6)
Total: 12 weeks of play

League participation is intentionally limited to preserve a welcoming and connected environment.

  • Maximum of 10 teams (20 players) per league

Cost & What's Included:

  • $50 per player (one-time entry fee)

  • $11 per player each week
(or $22 per team per week)

The $50 entry fee covers:

  • All weekly contest prizes

  • Administrative costs

  • Entry for the Great Lakes Bay Region Veterans team into the Michigan Veterans State Championship

A Path to the State Championship

At the conclusion of the season, eight veterans from the league will be selected to represent the Great Lakes Bay Region in the Veterans State Championship, hosted annually at the nationally recognized American Dunes Golf Club.

There, our local veterans will compete against veteran teams and leagues from across the state of Michigan — representing not only their own achievements, but the strength of this community and the power of programs built around support and connection.

Military Mondays Golf League stands as a small but meaningful step toward addressing a very real and very urgent need.

One round.
One conversation.
One connection at a time.
